An exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the regional socio-political newspaper «Ontustik Kazakhstan» has been organized in the reading room of periodicals.

«Ontustik Kazakhstan» is a regional socio-political newspaper of the Turkestan region, published in the city of Shymkent. The newspaper was founded on November 26, 1924.  In 1925, the newspaper «Ak Zhol» was merged with the newspaper «Enbekshi Kazak» (now «Egemen Kazakhstan»), published in the city of Kyzylorda. Since July 1, 1929, the newspaper was published under the name «Lenin Zholy» - as an organ of the Executive Committee of the Syrdarya district Party Committee.   

 Since March 12, 1932, the newspaper has been published 5 times a week as a regional newspaper called «Ontustik Kazakhstan». In the early years, the newspaper was printed in Arabic script, and then in Latin script.

«Onustik Kazakhstan» is one of the most widely read newspapers in the southern region. For political reasons, the newspaper changed its name several times. Today, the newspaper reflects the current problems of society, the course of economic and social reforms in the region and much more.

Ryskulov, S. Khodzhanov, O. Dzhandosov, O. Isaev and others took part in the creation of the newspaper. The newspaper «Ak Zhol» carried out work on the elimination of illiteracy and the development of the spiritual consciousness of the people. The first editor was S. Khodzhanov. Then, in different years, the editors-in-chief were: B. Kenzhebaev, A. Omarov, A. Aliyev. Currently, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper is Balazhan Abai Beknazaruly.

The publication was awarded the Diploma of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR in 1967 and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1974. It was also awarded silver and bronze medals at the All-Union Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy in Moscow, Budapest, Prague (1980-90).

Today, the regional socio-political newspaper «Ontustik Kazakhstan» is published three times a week, with a circulation of 34213 copies.

The exhibition presents materials and articles published on the pages of the newspaper, as well as files of the newspaper «Ontustik Kazakhstan» from different years of publication.
