On October 2, 2024, at 15:00 p.m., in the format of the Book Corner of India, a literary and musical evening dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the outstanding Indian political and public figure Mahatma Gandhi will be held in the N. Dauletova Hall of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Representative Office of the Embassy of India in Almaty and the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event will feature presentations by scientists, teachers of the Department of the Middle East and South Asia of the Department of Indian Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, director of the Specialized School-Lyceum № 92 for Gifted Children named after Mahatma Gandhi Shazhabaev K.S. and others.
Within the framework of the event, a book and illustrative exhibition «Menin omirim - menin zholdauym» dedicated to the 155th anniversary of Gandhi will be organized from the fund of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition presents materials in English, Kazakh, Russian and Hindi languages.
The literary and musical evening will be attended by: Mr. Kothavade Swapnil Sharad, Consul of the Representative Office of the Embassy of India in Almaty; Mr. Dr. Sanjay Garg, Deputy Director of the National Archives of the Republic of India; Em Natalia Borisovna, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; teachers and students of the Department of Middle East and South Asia of the Department Indology of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; students of the Specialized School-Lyceum № 92 for gifted children named after Mahatma Gandhi, readers and guests of the library.
