On March 12 the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, within the framework of the agreement with the All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after M. I. Rudomino, held an online master class of specialists of the Russian IFLA / PAK Center for Eastern Europe "Making marble paper".

Making marble paper is considered an ancient decorative art that originated in Ancient Persia. This technique has another name-Ebru (Turkish), or drawing on water with paints. Marbling was particularly popular and highly skilled in Japan and France. The paper made by this method is used for the flyleaf of books.

Conducting practical classes contributes to the professional development of the team of restorers of Kazakhstan engaged in the restoration of the book documentary heritage, as well as the growth of professional ties and international knowledge exchange.

The IFLA/PAK Regional Conservation and Conservation Center for Central Asia, which operates in National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan, actively cooperates and promotes the exchange of information with libraries and organizations in Central Asia that store valuable paper sources.

The master class was attended by restorers from libraries, museums and archives of Russia, Kazakhstan  and Uzbekistan.
