G.Aidarov after becoming acquainted with the well-known Soviet Turkic-studies specialist S.D. Nominkhanov started obsessed with the desire to open the secrets of the ancient Turkic written literature, fixed upon the stones. For the achievement of this goal, beginning from the 1960-ss he participated in the epigraphical expeditions, he studied the factual, lexical and grammatical peculiarities of the Orkhonskiy monuments of the VIII-th century. Apart from many of his colleagues who spoke perfectly the modern Turkic languages, the scientist clearly saw the linkage between the language of the ancient Turks and the modern Kazakh language.

Especial attention G.Aidarov paid to the issues about the Orkhon-Eniseiskiy and Talass written monuments which had crucial significance in the studying of the history of the Turks. The scientist proved that these written monuments are the testimony of the highly developed civilization and culture of the Turks which existed already in ancient times. In the course of the investigations the linguist carried out the transliteration of the texts. This written literature in the course of several centuries was widely used upon the huge territory – from the Hinganskaya mountains in Mongolia in the east to the Balkans in the west. The scientific works of G. Aidarov “The language of the Orkhonskiy monument of Bilge-kagan”, “The language of the Orkhonskiy monuments of ancient-Turkic written literature” and others are dedicated to the analysis of the graphical-lexical and grammatical peculiarities of the runic texts. Dedicating himself wholly to this scientific work, he wrote 20 (twenty) books and more than two hundred scientific articles.

In 1960 G.Aidarov defended the candidate dissertation by the theme “About the language of the monument in honour of Tenyukuk and his attitude to some Turkic languages”, in 1974 – the doctoral dissertation – “The lexics of the language of the Enisei-Orkhon monuments ofancient-Turkic written literature” in the Azerbaijan language. The scientific works of G.Aidarov who made a huge contribution into the studying of the Orkhon-Enisei monuments of ancient Turks, received high appraisal and acknowledgement of the well-known Soviet Turkologists like: A.N. Kononov, E.V. Sevoryatin, I.A. Batmanov, N.A. Baskakov and others.
