There in the hall of world literature is organized the book exhibition «The great world of novels of Feodor Mikhailovich Dostoevskiy», dedicated to the bi-centenary of the birth of the great Russian writer.

Feodor Mikhailovich Dostoevskiy is the greatest writer, classic of Russian literature, thinker, philosopher and publicist. According to the UNESCO data, one of the most read writers in the world.

He was born on November 11, 1821 in Moscow, in the multi-children’s family of the military doctor. In 1843 he received the diploma about finishing the special school.

That same very year he was sent to the post of the field engineer-second lieutenant to the Petersburg engineer team. The beginning of the creative biography of F. Dostoevskiy was the novel “The poor people”, the work upon which he finished in 1845. In 1847 he became the permanent participant of the circle of Petrashevskiy. For the participation in the circle of the Petrashevtsy in 1849 he was sentenced to the death penalty which was substituted by the 4-year hard labours with the subsequent sending to the soldiers. After being freed from the prison F.M. Dostoyevskiy spent about one month in Omsk where he became acquainted with Ch.Valikhanov, the well-known Kazakh ethnographer and historian. After the ending of the hard works he was bin Semipalatinsk city up to 1859. By this time there were written: “The white nights” (1948), “Netochka-Nezvanova” (1849), “The uncle’s night” (1859), “The village Stepanshikovo and its residents” (1859). In 1860 he started living in Petersburg. In 1861 together with his brother he published the magazine “Time” which enjoyed great success. From 1860 to 1880 F.M. Dostoyevskiy laboured upon the creation of the novels which became famous as “The great five books”. These were the most outstanding works: “The humiliated and insulted” (1861), “Crime and punishment” (1866), “The idiot” (1868), “The devils” (1871-1872), “The adolescent” (1875), “The brothers Karamazovs” (1879-1880), which reflected his deepest, philosophical, moral and social searchings. All of them, except for “The adolescent”, are in the list of “The 100 best books of all times”, compiled by the Norwegian book club and the Norwegian institute after Noble. F.M. Doctoevskiy died in 1881. There by the works of the writer there are staged plays and shot films.

There at the exhibition are presented the books of F.M. Dostoevskiy and the literature about him from the fond of National library of the RK in different languages of the world. There are presented the works “The humiliated and insulted” in Kazakh and English, “The idiot” in the Urdu language. “The crime and punishment” in the Spanish, German, French, English and Chinese languages. “The selected works” in the Singala language. “The white nights” in the Polish language, “The short novels and stories” in the Maratkhi language. “The white people” and “The white nights” in the telugu language.
