In the reading room named after Oraz Zhandosov of the Kazakhstan Kitaptary Service, a book exhibition «Yerlik pen mahabbat zhyrshysy» was organized, dedicated to the life and work of the People's Writer of Kazakhstan, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR Azilkhan Nurshaikhov.

Azilkhan Nurshaikhov was born on December 15, 1922 in the Zharma district of Semipalatinsk region. The young poet graduated from the Mining Institute in Almaty and entered the Kazakh Pedagogical College named after Abai in Semey, then studied at the Pedagogical Institute named after N. Krupskaya.

In 1940, he worked as a teacher at a secondary school in the Zharminsky district of the Semipalatinsk region. In 1941, 19-year-old Azilkhan was drafted into the Red Army. He spent the entire war as a gun commander in the 100th Kazakh Rifle Brigade.After the war, A.Nurshaikhov entered the Philological faculty of the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov. After graduating from the university, he worked in the editorial office of the newspaper «Socialistik Kazakhstan» In 1953-1956.   editor of the Pavlodar regional newspaper «Kyzyltu», in 1963-1965. editor-in-chief of the republican newspaper «Kazakh adebieti». Then he worked at the M.Auezov Institute of Literature and Art.  In 1968, he became the head of the editorial office of language, literature and folklore in the newly opened edition of the Kazakh Soviet Encyclopedia. He participated in the publication of the first volumes of the encyclopedia and wrote about a hundred encyclopedic articles.

He worked as a journalist for many years. In parallel with his journalistic activities, he was constantly engaged in literary work, forming the creative style of the writer. For many years of fruitful creative work, A. Nurshaikhov was awarded the orders of «Glory of the 3rd degree», «Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, «Badge of Honor», «Friendship of Peoples», «Parasat», «Otan» and medals: «For Bravery», «For military merit», «For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945», «For the liberation of Warsaw». He was awarded the honorary title of «People's Writer of the Kazakh SSR»

In 2016, a memorial cabinet was opened in the O. Zhandosov reading room of the «Kazakhstan Kitaptary» Service of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to perpetuate the memory of the famous writer A.Nurshaikhov and popularize his creative heritage. The interior of the home office has been recreated here and the writer's personal belongings are stored.

During his lifetime, he published more than 40 books. For the novel «Truth and Legend» about the legendary Hero of the Soviet Union Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, the author was awarded the Abai State Prize of the Kazakh SSR (1978).

The book exhibition «Erlik pen mahabbat zhyrshysy» consists of three sections.

The first section of the book exhibition «Omiri men onegesi» reflects materials about the life and work of Azilkhan Nurshaikhov: encyclopedias, biographical reference books, literature dedicated to the famous writer.

In the second section of the book exhibition «Adebiettegi dara tulga» introduces readers to the famous works of the writer: «Togyz tolgau», «Self-portrait», «Tandamaly shygarmalar zhinagi», «Zhambylga hat: Askeri estelikter», «Kalamger zhane onyn dostary», «Omir ornekteri: Adebi kundelikter», «Mahabbat kyzyk mol zhyldar», «Akikat pen anyz», « Mangilik mahabbat zhyry» and others.

The third section of the exhibition «Halyk alkalagan Az-aga!» is dedicated to the memories of the writer and literature about him: S.Kalkabayeva, «Azilkhan Nurshayykov prozasyndagi adamgershilik izdenister», «R.Turysbek, Azilkhan Nurshayykovtyn shygarmashylyk murasy», as well as articles on the pages of the periodical press

The purpose of the exhibition is to familiarize readers with the creative and social activities of the outstanding Kazakh writer A. Nurshaikhov, who made a significant contribution to the prosperity of Kazakh literature.
