A book exhibition «The National Library during the War», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, has been organized in the R.Berdigalieva Library Hall of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The purpose of the exhibition is to provide information about the activities of the National Library during the Great Patriotic War. To preserve in the memory of posterity the heroic feat of war veterans who fought for their homeland.
The exhibition features 15 bibliographic indexes, 18 books, 12 magazines, 22 drawings, letters and other information materials.
During the Great Patriotic War, the library provided great assistance to the front: it held mass events in hospitals and military conscription centers, and served specialists from industrial enterprises.
The exhibition presents materials from the museum of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan: information about librarians who voluntarily went to the front, photographs of staff and readers of the State Library of the Kazakh SSR for 1940-1950, the library report for 1943 and information on the number of library staff for 1945. In addition, readers are presented with letters from the front addressed to the library staff from the editorial office of the newspaper «For the Motherland» in 1942.
The National Library's collection includes the works of N.K. Dauletova, E.N. Shmeleva «The history of the formation and development of librarianship in Kazakhstan», «Librarianship in Kazakhstan 1918-1945», R.A. Berdigalieva «The formation of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the development of historical research 1931-1945», bibliographic indexes «Kazakhstan during the Great Patriotic War wars», «Shygystyn kos shynary» and methodological manuals dedicated to Kazakhstanis who died for their homeland, as well as articles published on the media pages.
The exhibition will last until the end of the year.
