October 20-22 in Uralsk took place the International conference "Independent Kazakhstan: the place of libraries in the social and cultural space", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the West Kazakhstan regional universal scientific library named after Zh.Moldagalieva

The conference was attended by the director of the National Library of Kazakhstan, chairman of the Kazakhstan Library Union B.K.Ospanova and the head of the world literature service F.K.Bekturbekova.

On October 20, they visited the West Kazakhstan regional children's and youth library named after H. Yesenzhanov, where they met with the staff of the library.

Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.K. Ospanova and Director of the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan U.D. Munalbaeva met with representatives of the intelligentsia in the West Kazakhstan regional universal scientific library named after Zh. Moldagalieva and told about the state of librarianship and problems of modern reading in the country. At the West Kazakhstan Innovative Technological University they held a lecture for students majoring in library science.

In the evening of the same day, Ospanova B.K. and Munalbaeva U.D. participated in a live broadcast of the regional TV channel "AQJAIYQ" in the program "Question Hour".

On October 21, the conference began with a book exhibition of printed products of libraries in Kazakhstan and continued with a plenary session. The moderator of the session was Abat Satybaevich Kydyrshaev, director of the Institute "Rukhani Zhangyru" of M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor.

Welcoming speeches at the conference were made by: the akim of the West Kazakhstan region Iskaliev Gali Nazhimedenovich; the head of the department of culture of the West Kazakhstan region Duisenov Sairan Temirgalievich and others.

Ospanova Bakytzhamal Kairbekovna made the report "Reading as a necessary tool of spiritual and intellectual breakthrough of the nation". Munalbaeva Umitkhan Daurenbekovna made a report "Library policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan: prospects and priorities".

During the conference, B.K.Ospanova gave an interview to the regional TV channel "Akzhaiyk" about the work of libraries of the republic.

Deputy of Akim of West Kazakhstan region Narymbetov Bakytzhan Khaberovich expressed his gratitude for the contribution to the development of culture and presented gifts to the guests of honor of the conference - Ospanova B.K., Munalbayeva U.D., chairman of the Public Association "Kazakhstan branch trade union of culture, sports, tourism and information" Imankulova S.K.

The program of the International Conference included an open interview "Akzhaiyk kalamgerleri" and the XXI regional contest "Zhubanov Readings" in the West Kazakhstan Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Zh. Moldagaliyev, as well as the presentation of the collection "The Regional Library during the years of Independence".

Director of the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan B.K. Ospanova awarded a number of Ural specialists with badges " Kazakstannyn kurmetti kitaphanashysy"; "Kitapkhana isinin uzdigi"; "Kitapkhana isininin ardageri" for special contribution and longstanding work in the development of librarianship.

The grateful letters were presented to the poets, members of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan, close friends of the library A. Narikov, M.H. Shuyinshalieva and the head of KSU "Kogamdyk kelisim" of the akim machinery of the West Kazakhstan region M.M. Kambetov.
