A book exhibition «Parasitology of gylymyn damytushi» dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences, professor, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR Illarion Grigoryevich Galuzo was organized in the hall for scientists named after U.M. Sultangazin of the «Kazakhstan Kitaptary» Service.

Illarion Grigoryevich Galuzo was born on April 8, 1899 in the village of Dargeyka, Sennensky district, Vitebsk region, Byelorussian SSR. In 1921 he graduated from high school and entered the Petrograd Veterinary Institute. Here he was interested in parasitology, and while still a student, he began working in the laboratory of the famous professor – protozoologist V.L. Yakimov. After graduating from the Veterinary Institute, Illarion Grigorievich was enrolled as a trainee veterinarian at the Leningrad Veterinary and Bacteriological Institute. In 1930, I.G. Galuzo was enrolled in the postgraduate course of the Zoological Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1933, after graduating from graduate school, he went to the newly organized Tajik base of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the city of Stalinabad (Dushanbe). In Tajikistan, he worked as a senior specialist in the Zoological and parasitological sector for more than three years. During this period, he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences.

In 1937, by decision of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, I.G. Galuzo was transferred to the Kazakh branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR as head of the laboratory of Parasitology. Since that time, all his activities have been inextricably linked with Kazakhstan.

In 1946-1951, Deputy Director of the Kazakh branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, Academician-Secretary of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. In 1951-1967 he was director of the Institute of Zoology. The main scientific works on blood-sucking ticks (State University of the USSR, 1951), fauna, ecology and biology of protozoa.

Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR (1946). Awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1950) and the Order of Lenin (1953).

The book exhibition consists of two sections. The first part of the book exhibition «Kornekti galim-parasitologist» reflects materials about the life and work of Illarion Grigoryevich Galuzo: encyclopedias, reference books and literature about him.

In the second section, «I. Galuzo zerttegen ilim» presents his works: «Scabies of sheep» (1945), «Blood-sucking ticks of Kazakhstan» in five volumes (1946, 1947, 1948, 1950, 1953),   «Scabies of sheep and the latest methods of combating it» (1954), «Scabies mites and scabies of sheep» (1957), «Argass ticks» (1957).

The purpose of the book exhibition is to popularize the works of the parasitologist, to acquaint readers with his creative activities.

A world-renowned scientist, I.G. Galuzo skillfully combined fundamental research with the solution of private applied problems. He made a huge contribution to practical veterinary medicine and medicine.
