The National Library of Kazakhstan organized a book exhibition "Uly Otan sogys zhyldaryndagy akyn-zhazushylar" on the Day of Defender of the Fatherland and the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The purpose of the exhibition is to teach the younger generation patriotism and morality through works that tell about the heroic deeds of the frontline poets and writers who held the pen and weapon. Also to popularize among young people a deep comprehension, a true appreciation of their history, honoring our spiritual values.

The war had a significant impact on the works of Kazakh poets and writers. Many Kazakh writers who were at the fronts wrote on the war theme. T. Zharokov, Zh. Sain, A. Nurshaihov, B. Bulkyshev, Zh. Moldagaliyev, T. Akhtanov, K. Amanzholov, M. Alimbayev, O. Kanakhin, D. Abilev, Zh. Sain, Zh. Zhumakhanov, G. Ormanov, A. Sarsenbaev, D. Abilev, A. Zhumagaliev, K. Amanzholov, K. Abdykadyrov, K. Bekhozhin, B. Momyshuly, S. Omarov went to the front with weapons in hand, S. Mukanov, M. Auezov, G. Musrepov, G. Mustafin, G. Ormanov, A. Tokmaganbetov, A. Tazhibayev, Sh. Husainov, A. Abishev, M. Khakimzhanova participated in the creation of Kazakh literature of war time. They were joined by such akyns as S.Maulenov, H.Yergaliyev, Z.Moldagaliyev, S.Seitov, who are famous for their war materials published on the pages of frontline newspapers.

Representatives of folk poetry Zh. Zhabayev, N. Baiganin, K. Azerbayev, Sh. Koshkarbayev, N. Baimuratov, N. Bekezhanov, D. Alimbayev and others wrote poems about patriotism, praised the popular will and spirit of the soldiers.

Along with the above-mentioned poets and writers, the exhibition features works by Kemel Tokayev, a writer who glorifies the exploits of soldiers participating in the Great Patriotic War and the devotion to their country; a warrior-writer Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, who tells about the heroic chronicles of the harsh years; the writer Kasym Kaisenov, witnessing the heroic exploits of partisans behind enemy lines; the writer Adi Sharipov, writing on the basis of experiences of his friends, the works of Malik Gabdullin, Hero of the Soviet Union, distinguished by the truthfulness of real events, as well as the memories of other heroes.

In addition, readers will find collections "Maidan", "Maidan zholdary", "Maidan angimeleri", dedicated to the theme of the front, military events and selected stories and essays of other poets and writers.
